3관 : 캠프그리브스의 기억Hall 3 : Memories of Camp Greaves
1953년부터 2004년까지 캠프그리브스에 주둔했던 미군들의 생활상을 실제 사진과 영상, 막사 재현 공간, 스트링아트(체험) 등을 통해서 상상해 본다.
See the photos, videos, replicas of barracks of the American soldiers who had lived in Camp Greaves during the period of 1953-2004, create a piece of string art youself, and imagine what the lives of the soldiers were like
4관 : 평화를 위한 발걸음Hall 4 : Steps for Peace
평화의 상징이 된 판문점 도보다리를 재현한 공간에서 평화를 위한 역사적 여정을 되새기고 평화의 공원이 될 캠프그리브스의 미래를 상상해 본다.
Visit the space housing the reproduced footbridge, which has now become a symbol of peace, to think about the steps for peace and the future of Camp Greaves as a peace park.
02. 기획전시관PERMANENT EXHIBITION
DMZ국제다큐영화제의 의미와 역사의 가치를 담고 있는 다큐영화를 감상할 수 있는 DMZ 다큐시네마전과 정전협정 이후 판문점에 주재하며 남과 북의 모습을 카메라에 담은 중립국감독위원회 소장 중립국감독위원회가 본 1950년대 등 다양한 기획전을 관람할 수 있다.
At the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (DMZ Docs), visitors can view the films about the significance and historical value of the DMZ, and also tour planned exhibitions. For example, “1950th DMZ KOREA seen through the eyes of NNSC” displays the photos of the Panmunjom area taken by the members of the NNSC in the years since the signing of the Armistice agreement.

이념을 뜻하는 ‘ISM’을 ‘잊음’에 관한 작업이다. 한국 사회에서 구시대의 산물임에도 불구하고 여전히 존재하는 이념 간의 대립을 잊기 위한 하나의 매개체로서 존재한다.
This artwork equates “ISM,” meaning “ideology,” with the Korean word for “forget.” Despite being a product of the old generation, it serves as a medium for forgetting the conflict between the old ideologies that still exist in Korean society today.

초소를 활용하여 군대 체제 사이에 벌어진 틈새 같은 공간을 만든다. 외벽에 그려진 카무플라주처럼 보이는 실내벽지 문양은 개인의 심리적 방어기 지임을 암시한다. 공간 내부에는 집단 안에 수용될 수 없던 개인들의 내밀한 이야기가 펼쳐진다.
A space symbolizing a “crack” in the military system was created by using a guard post. The design of the interior wallpaper, which looks like camouflage painted on the exterior wall, suggests a psychological defense base of individuals. The space is filled with the private stories of individuals who could not be accepted within the main group.

The Strange DMZ Eco Nuri Park
예민한 감각을 지닌 생물들이 감시 받는 땅에서 어떤 식으로 생활을 영위하는지, 실제 DMZ 구역 내 일부를 공원으로 설정하여 그들 내에 일어나는 생태 현상을 드러낸다.
In order to discover how sensitive wildlife goes about their daily lives in a closely monitored zone, a park was created in a section of the DMZ to reveal the fascinating ecological dynamics taking place there.

군용탱크 주차장이던 오래된 구조물에 설치된 거울 위에 관람자의 위치, 계절, 시간에 따라 변화하는 주변 풍경이 반영된다. 과거의 유물로 멈춰진 구조물이 관람자의 시선에 의해 끊임없이 새롭게 태어난다.
The mirror,installed on a former parking lot for tanks, reflects the surrounding landscape which changes according to the visitor’s position and the season and time. This old, obsolete relic is being constantly reborn from each visitor’s viewpoint.

두 인물이 캠프그리브스 곳곳을 돌아다닌다. 이들의 몸짓은 서로에게 다가가려는 남북한의 노력을 은유한다. 분단 상황에 있으나 더 이상 군사지역이 아닌 평화로운 캠프 안에서 함께 움직이는 두 사람을 통해 남북 간의 긴장 완화와 앞으로 올 평화를 보여준다.
Two people walk together through Camp Greaves. Their gestures express the efforts of South and North Korea to reach out to each other. These two people, who are walking together through the peaceful camp, which is no longer a military zone despite the continuing national division, embody the relaxation of tensions between South and North Korea and the coming peace.

TOCHKA CITY PROJECT: object for emergency
일정 시간 동안 풍화 혹은 재난으로 인해 고유 하중치를 넘어선 건축물의 붕괴되는 순간을 재현하고 있다. 1970년대 남침 대비의 목적성을 가지고 ‘유사시’를 위해서만 존재해 온 대전차 방호벽들의 마지막 순간을 시각언어로 풀어내고자 한다.
Reproduces the moment of the collapse of a building beyond its natural load due to a disaster or weathering for a certain period of time. Using visual language, this work attempts to interpret the last moments of the anti-tank walls that were built in the 1970s to protect the South against North Korean attack and existed only to serve their purpose during wartime.
05. 정비고 프로젝트MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP PROJECT

Floating Tree
DMZ 평화정거장 프로젝트 기간 동안 김명범 작가가 정비고를 작업실 겸 스튜디오로 운영하였다. 부유하는 나무는 땅에서 벗어나 뿌리를 내보이는 죽은 나무가 공중에서 붉은 풍선더미와 만나 열매 가득한 생명을 품은 나무로 부활한 작업이다.
During the DMZ Peace Platform Project, artist Kim Myeongbeom operated an open studio out of a garage. This artwork features a dead tree exposing its root away from the earth, meeting a bundle of red balloons in mid-air, and resurrecting to become a tree full of life.
06. 갤러리 그리브스GALLERY GREAVES
갤러리 그리브스는 시각장애인을 위한 예술창작작품 점자 설명책이 준비되어 있습니다.

갤러리 그리브스는 미군 주둔 당시에 볼링장으로 사용된 공간을 2020년 리모델링을 하면서 지금과 같이 전시, 휴게 공간으로 리뉴얼 되었다. 전시 주제인 두 개의 시간은 6.25전쟁의 모습만이 아닌 전쟁에 맞설 수밖에 없었던 평범한 사람들의 이야기를 함께 담고 있다.
The bowling alley for U.S. troops stationed in Korea was remodeled in 2020 into a space for exhibitions and leisure. The theme of the exhibition, “Time Lost, Time Regained” tells the stories of ordinary people that had no other choice but to confront the war, as well as shows the tragedy of the Korean War.

얽힌 연결고리는 하나를 끊음으로 풀릴 수 있고, 어긋나 있는 연결은 새로운 기준점에서 맞춤으로 회복할 수 있다. 남과 북의 관계도 그러지 않을까라는 질문을 던지고 있다.
A tangled chain can get untangled by cutting off a knot, and two things that are disconnected or dislocated can be brought together by meeting at a whole new point of connection. This work poses the question of whether the tangled relations between South and North Korea can be straightened in the same way.

원형 구조는 6.25전쟁에 참여한 유엔 참전국 16개의 나라를 상징한다. 수많은 형광등 사이로 뿜어나오는 보랏빛은 긍정과 부정의 의미, 두 가지를 동시에 내포하며 이는 오늘날 우리의 모습을 은유한다.
The circular structure symbolizes the 16 UN member countries that fought alongside in the Korean War. The purple light emitted between the numerous florescent lamps signifies both positivity and negativity, and represents a metaphor for what we are today.

어둡고 폐쇄된 이미지를 벗어나 과거가 현재를 연결시키는 메타포로 작용한다. 터널 내부의 몽환적인 오로라 빛을 통해 관람객 개인의 추억 또는 특정 시대의 기억을 떠올리게 한다.
It acts as a metaphor for the past that breaks out of the darkness and a closed image and connects to the present. The dreamlike aurora glow in the tunnel makes visitors think of their personal memories or memories of a certain point in time.

The intangible energy of achieving the grand vision of peace and reunification is projected onto the work. It is designed to get across the message that formidable power and cohesive energy can be obtained only when different elements come together for a common goal.

수평의 공간Kim Myeongbeom
Horizontal Space
조금의 움직임에도 기울어지는 양극단과 달리 양쪽이 수평으로 만나는 중앙은 수평이 더 이상 무의미한, 비물리적인 새로운 공간이며 이명의 소리가 사라진 평온의 명상적 공간이다.
Unlike the two edges that tilt with a light tap, the center at which two sides meet on the horizon is a non-physical new space where horizon is no longer relevant, and it is a peaceful and meditating space where buzzing noises disappear.
