Details of participation to the war
North Korea and Soviet Union was aware that Korea was excluded from the far eastern defense line and so the U.S would not easily intervene in the Korean war as long as if the war was over in a short period. Also knowing about the unstable situation inside the country, they judged that their ambition of spreading communism could be fulfilled without difficulty. Having these facts in mind, North Korea and Soviet Union attacked the South.
U.N met the situation in a firm attitude. The U.S government requested the UN for an urgent Security council at June 26, 1950, the day after North Korea invaded the South. The bill requesting the U.N member nations to keep from supporting North Korea was passed and informed to all member nations. At June 28, the Security Council reopened and passed the bill regarding on “repulsing the military power attack of North Korea and supporting with the assistance for the recovery of security of South Korea and World peace”
Now, the resolution of U.N to repulse the Red army’s attack was propagated to the free allied nations. The 16 countries have dispatched combat units and 5 countries have dispatched medical support to guard the freedom and peace of the people of ROK. This was the first time the UN has managed to apply military sanction for collective security against the aggression destroying world peace
